I decided, after reading the latest evo magazine, to switch on GT4 again. I am now 57% through the game with a couple of million credits in the bank and about 150 cars. So I am bored of it, but I decided to get a Clio 172 to make it 151 cars. I did all the n/a mods you can do which took it to 290hp and 800kg's. I maxed everything, then went on to world circuits onto the ring then made my opponents 2 or 3 times faster.

So the line up of cars consisted of a couple of TVR's a couple of RUF's one a 996 model and the other the yellow bird shape then a Marcos or something I think.

Anyway it was so close all the way. It ended up being a 3 horse race with me and the two RUF's fighting for first position. We must have swapped places between every bend.

I had similar straight line speeds, but up hill and out of bends the RUF's had it. But I could out brake both of them, so I used that to end up with 2nd place. I was well on my way to getting first but I had an incident on the last bend :(

I was doing 8 mins dead for the 2 goes I had on a medium slicks. But that is the closest race ever - and the 172 is fantastic around the ring !!!!

On Cliosport.net they ran a challenge to see with lap time you could do on the ring in a standard Clio 172 on arcade mod with no tickering!

best I can do is 08:55 but a bloke on there managed 08:26 - God knows how!

Think the best real life time the club did was set at 09:05 by someone in a 172 Cup. Although this was ages ago and they're alway back and forth.

Andy - did you use plenty of NOS on the straights in a vain effort to get matching straight line speed?

edit: and I've found the best money spinner on there is use something quick on the endurance races. Leave the nurburgring one on B spec, pace 3 and you'll be quicker than everything else, and at the end you get 1.2 million and a formula one car.
