Amundsen map autozoom issue - doing my head in!

Featured Replies

Not sure if anyone else experiences this but find that whenever I set a manual zoom scale on my nav (like to have it at 50/75yds most of the time) the car even with autozoom disabled just chooses its own scale at random as you drive...sometimes 500yds...most of the time 1.5 miles!!!

The times it stays at the required scale it forgets it when you shut off the car and lock it.

Does anyone else experience this annoyance or am I on my own??

Yes I find it annoying aswell. Don`t like the fact that you can not seem to remove the red circle around vehicle unless I am missing something. Never seems to find any street data for the postcodes and is slow to load. Not as good as my old Amundsen system on our old Mk2 Octavia.

Thanks and agree 100%, the Amundsen + in my old Blackline was spot on, this is almost a backstep in some respects.

Anyone know what the Columbus does? Does it do the same?

I've found the Amundsen pretty terrible for generally broswing the map as well; especially when post codes are a bit 'fuzzy' or it might have a POI for the same thing but you can't really zoom and navigate well to actually see it.

My wife got peeved by my old TomTom and has almost thrown that out the window at times so I've not let her near the nav screen yet to keep things in one-pieve!

Indeed v glad it was standard kit and not a £550 option like it is (or now perhaps was if recent spec changes are to be believed) on the vRS.

I have found this so annoying that Whilst I was having my shoe wash fixed..I also mentioned this issue to Skoda UK. I have a 20 min video that by now has gone to Skoda Technical to see if they can resolve it. Please..the more people that complain about it the more likely they are to acknowledge it being an issue...tell your dealer! Skoda UK are phoning me every week with an update as to what the progress is. It's slow, but that would seem because I'm the only one in the country that has reported the problem.

Firmware 0490 doesn't fix it.

As a workaround I press the zoom softkey twice and then turn the scale down to what I want (usually 50 yards).
