Squeaky Instrument Panel

Sounds like the Silicon Spray OR the rubber packing in the gap between the binacles and the main facia will fix the squeak. Seems a very common problem though that Skoda ought to investigate and perhaps change something in the manufacturing process. Do they read these forums?

Little piece of black foam rubber wedged into gap between binnacles and main housing - silent.

Just to return to this thread for an update.... The rubber wedge I used seems to have come loose (compressed) in use and the creak returned. I therefore tried Ryeman's version and sprayed some Dry Lube Silicone around the speedo and tacho binnacles. This has worked immediately and has remained good for over a week so far. Hopefully this will be a permanent fix this time. :wait:

Mine does this too. Will have to try the remedies mentioned here, as it's very annoying !

Mine has done it since new although it seems to come from the area just above (or to the side of the steering wheel) - there was an earlier thread describing similar experiences about a year ago(?). it was returned to the dealers who dismantled and fixed it (apparently a loose wiring tie wrap thingy) but the noise came back again after another couple of weeks :wall: and has been there ever since. Seems to be not temperature dependent but aggravated by the road surface.

My old Yeti used to do it as well. Makes you wonder what the engineers were thinking when the development prototypes were speaking and rattling away before the car was launched. They test them across different temperature ranges and so it can't be down to build quality if thermal expansion is to blame.

I have exactly the same problem with my 6 week old Yeti #2. Never had it on Yeti #1. The only reason I haven't been too upset about it is that the sqeak from the dash is nothing compared to the massive tiz coming from somewhere on the passenger side on some surfaces. I've had my wife drive a couple of times but haven't tracked it down. If it persists I'll be booking into the dealers.

You REALLY should try the silicone dry lube spray - it has fixed mine and it had been driving me nuts. A quick squirt around the top of the tacho and speedo binacles and the squeeks ALL disappear.

OK, thanks, will get some as I can use it for curtain tracks etc.  But suspect my worst noise isn't where yours was.  I do sometimes hear squeaks that seem higher up where the binnacle is, whereas my noise sounds further down and further away and is qualitatively different.  But I'll give it a go and let you know if it helps.

WD40 (more than 'water displacement') and CRC Dry Lube Silicone spray are two must haves in my vehicle.

Oh! and dielectric grease too.

This is the one I bought as it has a tube which can be attached to the can to direct the silicone but I think any product described as dry lube silicone should work.

Finally got round to ordering some of this stuff off Ebay, looking forward to sorting the dash creak !

Hoping I can spray it round the handbrake webbing too, to stop the horrible rubbery creak that makes when it goes up/down.

I had the same problems, so I also used the WD40 dry-lube, that was 12 months ago. rattles all gone. But my garage in Telford 'Faintree' had to stop a rattle behind the glove box, it was a loose fixing

on the air bag mount.
