Steve, I am able to reverse park okay, the Golf has front and rear sensors, and these obviously are a big help, you soon realise how good they are when you drive without them.

The reason why I was keen to get a RVC for the yeti, was due to its size and on some occasions, it can be a pain to turn my neck, obviously not impossible.

But obviously with Park Assist, in theory i shouldn't need a RVC, just the mirrors.

Does the heating use a lot of fuel?, I'm no car expert by any means, but i like to have it on to get the inside warm.

  • Sorry to say this but I think this is a bad choice of car/engine for your intended usage. And I own one. Doing that sort of mileage with motorways too I'd urge you to do yourself a favour and change y

  • You will get 40 MPG if you are careful and keep the speed down on the motorways to less than 70 MPH. I have done 18,000 miles in my 1.2 DSG and averaged (brim-to-brim) 40.6 MPG but only do approx 60 m

  • They're heavy and aero drag at speed is high. If economy has a high priority you might be disappointed IMO.

I see that you have yet to get your Yeti, what car do you have at the moment?

The Yeti is a very easy car to park because the rear screen is almost vertical.  It's almost the same length as a Golf, but noticeably narrower.  I think most people would find it a lot easier to park than a Golf.

The 1.2 engine gets warm very quickly. The cabin is heated with waste heat from the engine.  I would say it's free heat, but if the engine takes a bit longer to warm up, then it'll burn a bit more fuel until it's at operating temperature.

Not according to the dimensions I've found online.

MKVI Golf = 1779mm wide

MKVII Golf = 1799mm wide

Yeti = 1793mm wide

These dimensions are not including mirrors.

Virtually identical give or take 6mm

Try adding the mirrors and you'll see what I mean.  I cannot get a Golf into my garage, but the Yeti goes in easily.
