egr renewed but still getting same eml code

Featured Replies

anybody had same experience or got any advice for me , i would so much appreciate.

I had the eml on and having read the code it was the egr valve so I just cleaned it all using petrol, but after about a week I had same code reappear, so I purchased a new egr valve, and now after about 2 weeks same code reappeared. My son thinks we should take off the manifold as that may well need cleaning too.

many thanks for any replies

What is the fault code?

What is the engine?

Just because it the code has EGR in its description doesn't mean it is the valve itself. It could easily be a bad connection.

thanks for reply

sorry i have been long time in getting back to you with the engine code, what i appear to see on the label you suggest has got BKC on it, its also a 77kw .

Thanks again

Check the vacuum pipe from the valve block to the EGR valve is OK.

Check that the solenoid valve in the valve block is working.

If you can borrow a MityVac or vacuum guage, it makes the above tests much easier.

Check that you have a signal to pin-6 of the valve block connector (brown/yellow wire).

I've got the same problem. Removed the EGR and cleaned out about half an inch thick deposit of black gunk about a month ago. EML keeps coming back on intermittantly with that same fault code. EGR Insuficient flow detected. I've reset the fault code and tried different driving styles to see when it occurs but there's no pattern to it. I popped off the vacuum hose from the top of the EGR valve and stuck my thumb over the end. It created a vacuum. Is that enough? How do you check the solenoid valve in the valve block? And how do you check that you have a 'signal to pin-6 of the block connector'?

Thanks in advance..

I do believe the egr problem has been resolved . I didn't realise at the time but have since found out that the glowplugs  should also be replaced as they work with the egr valve to reduce emissions, I assumed the glowplugs only worked to start the car and not used when the engine is running. Since this was done the car is now running fine, I hope this helps others.
