What Offset For 8.5" Wheels?

Featured Replies

As topic. I need to know what offset I should have if I have 8.5" wheels on my RS. Seems as my new BBS wheels have the wrong offset:( The wheels are too far out. The ET is 30. a pic

Hi Christian,

Std offset for Octavia is ET35 if I remember.

I was very tempted by some 17" or 18" Audi RS4 replica wheels, but these were ET30 - I was assured that they were OK but in the end, went for 7x17" with ET38 offset which seem perfect fit.

I think that the more rim width you add, the higher the ET no. should be, otherwise you end up with the rim too far out - apart from wheel arch clearance problem, this is also likely to increase "tramlining" effect.

Yes, but I need to know what ET is possible on an 8.5" wide wheel without them rubbing the wheel arch or the struts. Don't want to sell my new wheels:(

Standard offset for the RS with Skoda 17" alloys is ET38, or ET42 with 16" alloys. The 4X4's offset is ET42 with Skoda alloys. (Info from ETKA parts list)

Denis,

I am sure that my L&K std alloys 6.5x16" were marked as ET35.

Maybe the 4x4 takes a different offset?

ETKA lists the L&K's alloys as 7 spoke 6.5JX16H2 ET42.

And lovely they are too... (just 1" too small in diameter ;) )

16" is plenty for me. The trouble with vRS owners is that Skoda gives them another inch and it makes them want another mile - figuratively speaking.

Dangerously close to Finbarr Saunders territory!! :D

Actually, Christian, looking at your pic you would be verging on the illegal if you were in the UK. No part of the wheel or tyre is allowed to project from the outer edge of the wheelarch.

(Looks nice, tho!!!!)

Same laws over here :D

et30 front and et 35 rear is better but you will need to roll all four arches...

I hav thought of rolling the arches but it's pretty expensive. Changing the offset only in the rear? How does that affect the handling? In the front I don't think there is much more room than maybe 5-7mm between the struts and rim:rolleyes:

Seems I can change the offset 4mm according to the proffesionals. The arches in the rear are allready as "rolled" they can be and in the front they said the metal was too soft/thin to roll.
