Maxi dot advice

Featured Replies

I am in the process of changing to a 2012 VRS but cant recall if it had maxi dot or not? Do all facelift models have this? I just assumed it did as the fabia VRS had it as standard. Any hep would be appreciated.

It was always an option as far as I recall.

Thanks. I will only hope then.

It was not always an option.  We took maxi-dot as an option on our Elegance estate however I believe if you had DSG it came standard or you went for the L & K it was standard.

never seen a facelift without it tbh and ive been in quadzillians pal

(VRS that is )

Think the above is true - DSGs had it as standard, otherwise it's an option. I don't have it in my 2012 vRS tdi.

if the car you buy doesn't have it, they can be retrofitted.

I see you are in Norfolk, where abouts?

There seems to be a lot of confusion about maxidot. My FL scout is DSG and has the maxidot style display but you are unable to access the so called maxidot menus. I'm not the only one (so its not a fault) others have this set up too.

I think it's standard in a vrs with DSG I've a manual fl vrs which doesn't have it think it was an option

When I purchased my March 2012 vRS I looked at 5 vRS.  The 2 with DSG had Maxidot, the three manuals did not.

My brochure for the MKII FL shows that Maxidot is only standard with DSG.

Sheringham. Just bought my third VRS from Simpsons. Im trading my Fabia twin charged in for a diesel Octavia Vrs. The main reason i ask is i want to fit the phone kit which i retro fitted to the Fabia in the new car. Its all out ready to go and i pick up thursday. I understand some coding maybe required which wasnt necessary in the Fabia it just plugged in and worked.

Cheers for the replies. I can only hope. The dsg bit could be correct as my Mk2 fabia was DSG and it had it as standard.

If it is a DSG Octavia VRs it will have a Maxidot.

I'm in Gorleston, if you want to pop over after you pick the car up, I can code the BT in

Very kind of you. My purchase is a manual diesel and i cant recall seeing maxidot. If your about thursday i might take you up on that.

No maxidot in FL's ..omg never come across this and i have driven tons of fleet car FL's.i even bought my fleet car, i loved it that much.

even our Octy tdi's bogo basics models on 12 plates have it and they have 5 speed manual boxes

Well i will be damned, every days a learning day

so how do you turn off your daytime running lights also adjust the central locking settings without it ?

I would be surprised if those basic cars had it as  it was not even an option on the basic models. What they will have is the black centre section that has a similar appearance to the full maxidot. A good way to tell on the facelift is open a door, do you get a little red light or a large graphic in the central display showing exactly which door you just opened.

On the FL the non maxidot and standard trip computer to the untrained eye look exactly the same.

The thread below shows examples of both maxidot and non maxidot on the facelift.

Not even some high end cars have it, the list price if the Scout DSG was 24k hardly a basic model and doesn't have it.

Well, Picked up the car and no Maxi dot. Not a big issue just wanted the hands free blue tooth unit to work with the bolero. After many hours trying to get the head unit back in with all the wiring i have completed the job with no need to code with vcds as the phone button worked straight off.The installation I.e plug and play was easy but the hardest bit is trying to get the head unit in with the additional wiring. If only i had shaved off some of the Double din housing at the back of the unit at the start of the install it would have been done in 1 hr tops. You live and learn.

Alll you needed to do to re-route the car's cabling to the side of the plastic radio cage and make the connections between car wiring and bluetooth between the cage and side of the console. Then route the other end of the bluetooth wiring to the back of the aperature and connect there. Plenty of room, and the extra wiring out of the way at the side.

Mike

Yep exactly what i did but the wiring loom i had was far thicker than the skoda cabling and was a nightmare.
