Scandinavian lightning mode on FL Octavia 2010

Featured Replies

hi, a few weeks ago we sold our pre-fl octavia. this had the scandinavian lightning mode active, with headlights always on. we loved it - and want it back. our new car is fl octavia 2010 elegance, but i can't find the scandinavian mode in vcds. does anybody know: is it possible to activate? if yes, how? i suppose it is possible there's no scandinavian mode for fl octavias because of the dlr foglights, but i never give up hope. any help is highly appreciated! thank you!

why we love scandinavian mode (taken from mikeholroyd's post)

Firstly the dashboard and panel lights are not on with DRLs, the dashboard remains totally unlit except for the green dipped beam headlight warning light. As a result of this, if you have a Columbus head unit it will stay in day mode until you physically switch the lights on. Secondly, the headlight wash system is not active (although there is an option elsewhere within the 09 central electronics controller to allow the headlight wash to be active with DRL). Thirdly, there is no effect if you put the indicator stalk into high beam position when on DRLs only (normal headlight flash is unaffected though)

Sorry, Scandinavian mode is not available on the FL models. Totally different controllers unfortunately.

The best you can do is ask your dealer to switch on the rear lights so they work with the front DRLs.

The FL models really are very limited as to what you can alter with VCDS :(

bad news, really bad news... :( thanks for your reply, i felt this must be the case. wish they used the old controllers!

Mine is set to have the rear lights come on with the front DRL. As the fronts are 21W each on my Elegance I 'm pretty visible at all times.

My FL Vrs does the same

I appreciate this is an old thread. But how easy is it to get the dealers to activate rear lights with the LED drls on my 62 plate vrs.

Or am I better seeing if there is a very friendly member of this very forum nearby that might be able to assist me?

Thanks.

Thanks Mike. Be a bit of a trek to come north Yorkshire. Probably about 4hours drive.

Will definitely keep it in mind though. I would much rather have the back lit up with the front DRLs. Might save me some cash on headlight bulbs.

As at present it's dipped headlights all the time for me even during the day.

Would much rather only utilise headlights at night or during poor weather conditions as required.
