Where to mount GPS antenna

Featured Replies

I am currently looking at removing my Bolero unit and fitting a Columbus. Out of interest where is the best place to mount a GPS antenna? Where is the factory fit one fitted?

Cheers

The factory one is on the roof (part of the radio aerial). I fitted my aftermarket one in the dash above the columbus unit and it works faultlessly.

Thanks Phil.

i choose for putting it on top corner on the left hand side(left hand driver car). Have not had any issues at all.

You could run the cable up the A-pillar and stick it (it is magnetic) to the inside of the roof.

All sorted now. While fitting the Columbus unit I removed the central air vents and stuck it to the aluminium cross brace under the dash. I was expecting this to be steel but couldn't find any magnetic points on the brace, so I used some double side reg plate foam and stuck it down. Far easier than running up the A pillars but that's certainly another option, cheers.

So far it's been faultless and never lost signal.
