Bad job at Hand car wash, prompted full polish!

Featured Replies

Took car to hand car wash I'd not used before, got car home, noticed lots of fine lines in clear coat,

had to polish entire motor!!!

Also wash wheels as tyre dressing they painted on, went all over alloys on way home!!!

My efforts turned car around, & now looks stunning again!!!

Only took it to them to get Sahara sand blasted off, as I have no hose or pressure wash available, it won't be going back!!!

Here's my results!!!

yeah sand is pretty aggressive stuff, we suffer pretty badly from it here with sandy beaches, when it's windy the stuff gets everywhere, a few times i've fallen foul of contaminated sponges too which i must have dropped on the floor or something.

Using a hand carwash is disastrous any time but taking your car there when it's covered in sand as asking for trouble....

As said, avoid the hand car washes - you just cant be safe on materials, utensils used at these placed.

That aside - the saharan sand may have played its part.

But nice to see the situation was recovered and i hope your pride and joy is now nicely polished, sealed and protected!

Hi I would never use a hand car wash on my beloved Fabia Monte Carlo. I am pleased you got your car back clean again thank you for the info.

There's a hand carwash up the road from me, i've seen the guys cleaning the leathers they use to dry the car by laying them on the ground and jet washing them!

Lesson learnt!!!

I live in a flat so there's no where for me to wash mine, my only option is to go over to my parents but sometimes it's hard to find the time but I'd rather leave it dirty than let anyone else wash it.  I won't even let the dealers wash it when its in for a service.

The problem I have is, the house taps have no lip to attach a hose, so I use a watering can, fine for regular washing, but when we get sand in the rain, I seek a jet wash, I tried a new to me, hand car wash, & it didn't pay off, but luckily the fine scratches in the clear coat, polished out.

Just shove the hose over the tap and secure it with a jubilee clip.

Didn't do a very good job, tyres are still black..LOL
