Any ideas on what engines will be availible?...1.4tdi, 1.9tdi 100/130/140? 2.0fsi (non turbo)???? vrs yeti tdi 170? :D

It's a fabia platform so whatever goes in there goes in the Yeti. Although it will be built on the next gen platform, still, the 2.0FSI not very probable.

I think the Yeti is still a long way away.At best,if they do it I reckon end of 2006.Hope I am wrong though!

it was said it was 99% ready fro production soooooo :D we might be lucky n get it next year, if so me thinks i want to try one! :D

It is almost ready for production, but it's not sure that it would be produced! It's up to "father" VW to give the green light. Anyway, it seems that the concept was built on a shorter Golf V platform (not on a Fabia/Polo platform). The guys from the British magazin AutoExpress tested this car in May and they say it's likely to start the production of Yeti in 2007. Personally I think we shall not see it before 2008, because in 2006 Roomster will be launched, followed in 2007 by the new Fabia model.

It's only 3.82 meters (5.5 inches shorter than Fabia hatch). But it has the same height and width as VW Golf Plus.

That sounds excellent.Definately be one on our drive when launched.Be interesting to see colour options.

Dark blue or graphite maybe.Only problem now.Do we trade in the octy for it or the fab?! Think the octavia will stay and Jane's vRS would be p/xd for it.Plenty of time to decide.

@ Leon.I'm sure ther was a suggestion the 1.9 130 bhp would be a variant which would be a perfect swap for the fab vRS

Bucharest, the capital city of Romania, is hosting these days SIAB 2005 (2005 Bucharest International Motor Show). Skoda Auto participates in this event with its whole range of models (including Octavia RS) and with the Yeti concept car. In fact, at SIAB 2005 only two concept cars were introduced: Renault Zoe and Skoda Yeti.

I read a lot about Yeti on the net and my previous impressions were confirmed when I saw this concept in Bucharest. It would be a "popular" car (a VOLKSwagen), good for use in crowded cities but also outdoor on deteriorated or not-modernised roads.

Still, I have to make 10 remarks which, in my opinion (as a potential buyer), would contribute to the improvement of this concept car:

1. Front-drive wheels or four drive-wheels? Front-drive wheels have certain advantages: the car is cheaper, it could be equipped with automatic gear, the fuel consumption is lower, the car has a better acceleration. Of course, four drive wheels have their own advantages: better road abilities and use of the car in more difficult road conditions. To be honest, I don't mind to buy a Yeti with front-drive wheels only, but equipped with a good traction control system.

2. Personally, I like the hard-top Yeti. I cannot say the same about the Yeti Cabrio. Probably an electric sunroof for the hard-top model would be a better solution.

3. The car seem to be too short, with negative consequences for the back seat space and the volume of the luggage area. For me (only 1.70 m and 60 kg) this would not be a problem, but I think that persons higher than 1.80 m would not be very comfortable on the back seats. This

More Yeti news on AutoBild: the Yeti will arrive in 2008, will be based on the Fabia 2 platform and will indeed have four-wheel drive, based on the first-generation Haldex system carried over and made to fit from the Octavia I 4x4/Golf IV 4motion.

So it will at least have some proper offroad street cred, as opposed to the internal opposition coming from the new CrossPolo, which will be a FWD poser car.

I'm sorry but I really don't like it . I think it's hideous...

maybe it will grow on me in time....we'll see!
