If you were...

Ah OK, didn't realise that. I have some Meguiars foam pads or a bunch of cloths, would any of those be any good please?

If you were to buy one, I would strongly recommend doing your homework beforehand and getting some practice on a scrap panel, and if I were you, look at a DA polisher such as the DAS6 Pro available from cleanyourcar.co.uk these are very forgiving on your paintwork compared to a rotary.

If not, im pretty sure there would be someone on here that is close, that would be willing to help. if you were closer I wouldn't mind doing it for you!

Meguiars foam pads are fine, and to remove the residue you need some good quality microfiber cloths

Thanks, luckily most panels on my car are scrap panels thanks to the previous owner... :giggle:

Seriously though I feel inclined to do this the cheapest way first and work up. This isn't a VRS SE or a new car so I'm not super precious and I just want it better - not necessarily perfect.

Excellent - so I just need to get some P1? Then I'll just wax it after presumably?

Yeah just some P1. And wax or sealant afterwards, if you wanted to be technically correct about it you need to wipe the car down with IPA to get rid of all the polish residues before waxing/sealing as it will give them the best surface to bond to. Not everyone does this but its good practice.
