Silly Question re PSI/BAR...

Featured Replies

Always been a PSI chap and now we're in the EU it appears we've come over all BAR. So on my vRS Combi diesel 225/40 Conti's am I right in saying that I should be 35 PSI all round when light and heavy is 36 front and 46 rear?

When I were a lad...

14.5 PSI in a BAR, so convert at your will

Just type '35psi = bar' into google and they will answer

35 pounds per square inch =
2.41316505 bar

Not sure, but fairly certain that the vehicle handbook will have tyre pressures in it.......

(Tongue in cheek)

Also usually inside fuel flap

I have a 3 bar manual boost guage in my car.  I would hate to have a digital PSI one.....

Ironically I have oil temp and water temp digitally, same with EGT and oil pressure.  Just something about boost where I want a needle sweeping :D

Thanks all!

Interestingly I can see no mention of specific type pressures in  the manual, I'm guessing this is a general manual for all Octy's with their various different tyre and wheel sizes so fair enough. The fuel filler flap of course has the recommended pressures but I was surprised it was only in BAR but I guess my ignorance is due to being in the same C-class for over 11 years. It also occurred to me that 46PSI in the rears when 'heavy' seemed on the high side but, hey, it's clear that wtf do I know!

Thanks all!

46 does seem really high but I'll work on the assumption that Skoda know better than me. I wouldn't put 46 in mine to be honest.

Space Savers normally have about 4 bar in them - sometimes more (60-ish psi).
