Front mounted intercooler

Featured Replies

Hi all I was just wondering if anyone has fitted a eBay job fm intercooler and if it's a easy job to make it fit cos I'm going to have to alter one of the pipes to hold the map sensor is that easy to do ? I would buy the forge one but I just can't afford it .

You can buy a forge map adaptor pipe to fit the map. Or there is a kit with the hole for the sensor already built in

Cheers mate will have a look about have you fitted a none forge intercooler ?

Ive not fitted one myself. Plenty on this forum have. If you plan on going stage two power though the bigger front mount is better but you need to have pipes made up yourself

Ok thank you mate :-)

I have. It was a pain to fit:

Bloody hell mate sounds like a nightmare do you think the one I was looking at is a good choice ? Or will I have to do loads to make it fit ie move dv etc I know I'm going to have to also get the forge map sensor pipe

That one looks pretty good to me. It has some interesting brackets, sure they make sense once in place.

I had already moved my DV, Don't think you'll need to do that, just the MAP pipe.

A lot of my problems were caused by my deep Xenon lights.

I guess you just need to be aware that it's unlikely to be a direct bolt-on and be ready to do a bit of adapting.

ive also used this one which has map pipe, but harder to fit, a few more joins and it liked to blow all the time at stage2. bigger pipework thoughhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FMIC-SKODA-OCTAVIA-VRS-1-8T-TURBO-INTERCOOLER-KIT-/400154478306?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d2b10c6e2

I like that one in your link but you should it kept blowing ? And can I not used the original boost tap sorry if that's a dumb question I just don't have a clue :-)

it was hard getting a good seal, was the first kit i ever fitted so probably my fault  :giggle:  ive done fair few now :giggle:

its just a bit more twisty and fiddly but has map dv and n75 take offs so no faffing

and no you cant use the old n75 tap as its on the old boost pipe which you wont use any more. if you buy the first kit you will need a tap and map pipe. if you buy the 2nd kit i linked will go straight on no additions needed

tap

only way it can go

I got a 600*300*80 core with 3" inlet and outlet, going to get a charge pipe to go up over the left side of the engine, looks cool and it'll make piping that bit easier. Finding it tough enough to source one, but I'll get there!
