plz help after suffering from a serious back injury through work recently the bumpy ride on my 18month old monte is KILLING ME !

is there anything i can do to soften the ride tyre wise or would i have to go down to 16 inch rims for different tyres would like to keep the car looking original as poss

many thanks sally

Welcome to the forum.

It looks like you will have to try 16" wheels with different type of tyres,

and longer or softer springs/dampers.

Maybe someone will swap their Wheels/Tyres and Springs for the Monte ones.

Maybe 16" Comet wheels from a Fabia Reaction.

We fit Skoda 15" line alloys in the winter with 195/55 winter tyres which seems to noticeably soften the ride but without really effecting handling. Ours is a lightweight TSI 86 mind.

ok thanks can you tell me roughly what percent difference this would make it softer as im looking in to giving some 15 inch steel wheels a go

also does it affect the skoda warranty

or insurance in any way

You need to fit tyre of the correct Speed/Load rating to the manufacturers recommendation.

That is easy enough with the lower powered/Weight Fabias, look at what are standard or options for Fabias as Skoda fit.

As to Warranty, that should not be a problem when wheels/tyres are to a Skoda type fitment/manufacture.

Insurance will need checked with who covers you.

It should make no difference.

But some say a car might be more desirable as a Thief Magnet when Alloys are fitted.

Your Call handler might try to say the Steels are more desirable, but no extra charge.

or

could say 'modification' and charge for noting it.

That would be the Robber Broker/Insurance Company.

Difficult to put a percentage on it but even with the 'sports' suspension, the ride feels pretty similar to my lads 59 plate base model Fabia HTP 70 which runs on the same 195/55 R15 shod wheels throughout the year.

There should be no issue as highlight by others regard warranty if you use genuine parts as we have done; our rims were supplied by a local dealer and are the same design as those fitted to the 2009 Fabia Blueline special edition.

Regard insurance then our current provider has no issue either, as long as we continue to use manufacturer supplied/approved parts.
