ford fan from coventry

Featured Replies

hi all, just signed up to the forum and thought i would say hello. im a complete skoda newbie, i been a ford fan since i could walk and have owned nothing but fords. from mk4 escorts, orions, escort gti's, fiestas, ST's right through to cossies. i got blue runing through my veins but just lately the blue has got a slight green tinge to it. i remember first seeing the new skoda octavia vrs when it was first released and loved the clean looks and the black and white interior. i spent ages sat in it and really took to it. since hitting mid 30's i decided i needed an estate car. this age estates start to become sexy and practical. i bought a really tidy late mk6 escort gti estate in black, probably one of the tidiest left on the road, no rust which is amazing for scorts, full leather, air con, cd changer etc very well kitted for an escort. i planned on using it in the winter only so i could take the cossie of the road. only problem was after running around in the wifes fiesta st which currently is around 180bhp and the cossie the escort was gutless and i found i was booting it all the time and the economy just went. the practicality of it was great, i could get my dog in easy, anything i wanted. so much in fact the cossie has been parked up far last 2 years. i did think about turboing it but in reality car was only worth a few hundred. the only quick ford estates were too much so i started to think about the octavias again.

i work in a motor spares shop and dealt with a customer who owned a red one. he could not say a bad thing about it and i was hooked. im now at this point in time where the escort is up for sale and im hunting a mk1 vrs estate in silver, possibly red. i found a few lately but have missed out on them, now they have all seemed to vanished!! in betwwen this im having a dilemma................what to do with the cossie. its been tooked away for 2 years but now really dont have the space to keep it. i could sell it and spend it on the skoda but dunno if i could ever sell it, had her 11 years and always said i be buried in it. cant run both at same time but dont want to keep the skoda for a winter car!! decisions, decisions

Welcome to Briskoda, Clive.  Good luck in your search for an Octy

Me personally I would put the cossie in storage and keep hold of it, you will always regret selling it. They've got an old school muscle about them which you don't get with any other car.

You can pick up an octy estate for peanuts. They are almost disposable cars now being at that sort of price range.

Hello and Welcome to the forum.... i hope you enjoy the move to Green!
