VRS Tuning / Second Stage

Featured Replies

Hi

I had my 05 VRS remapped a couple of months ago with a result of 189BHP / 320lb ft toruqe. The car also has eibach springs and the usual cupra intake and JR filter. The results were very good but unfortunately its just got me started!

Has anyone upgraded there turbo / clutch / intercooler / exhaust. Im going for a 150PD turbo, uprated clutch, and a custom intercooler the results should be circa 225 to 235BHP and 375lb ft torque. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has gone down this road and can offer advice or has the parts available for purchase. I think the injectors will be OK but I have been led to beleive they will have to try them and see.

By the way before anyone tells me, I know my warranty will be invalidated but I dont really care! I love the car and it will go sooo well its worth it.

Do a search failing that speak to blackmagic or col or ivan

both are running different specs and stages of tune!

Forge have a FMIC in the working as we speak, some sort of briskie deal maybe done on it at a later date.

There is a Upgrade clutch available that will handle 400lbft which is around the

You will be very lucky to get that kind of power on the std injectors.

Mine was running (still is but no longer mine) 200bhp and 340lbft with hybrid turbo, sports cat and exhaust and a custom remap.

Which I think Blackmagic has upgraded too, but I could be wrong :o

Aye he did, its pushing 238bhp now I believe

Quite a big change that. I am seriously wondering if you wouldnt be better off dropping in a 1.8T instead?

Looking at what Jason has had to do to drop a similar engine in you ccan imagine the work involved changing from a diesel to a petrol.

there are a few with the conversion already tho isnt there?

Hi CDOG,

Can you tell me your thoughts since having the eibach springs fitted and have you got them on the standard dampers and wheels or did you upgrade those too?

I'm thinking of having the springs, intake, filter and upper strut but not a remap as the car is fast enough for me at present.

Upgrading the dampers puts the cost up but i'm sure i've read you can use the standard dampers with the eibach vRS springs.

Thanks for any info.

Agreed, it would be a very, very big job. That said, if you are replacing clutch, suspension, intake, brakes, injectors, turbo, intercooler, exhaust, 'code' you're talking a lot of money anyway & effort.

How much would the price difference be, any idea? JBS did a conversion IIRC for a VW Polo, which looked very, very tight but it fitted (amazingly).

There are several mods I would like to do to the car but I can only do what my insurance allows at the moment, I just cannot be bothered to change it :D

My thoughts on Eibach with std dampers:

:)

My advice would be to go for a FMIC either Seat or Forge, a brake upgrade and decent ( not saying eibach isn't ) suspension kit thet lowers the car another 25mm from eibachs. With the FMIC you should see 10bhp, I saw this on rollers with the full Seat kit fitted.

My car shreads tyres or runs on the traction control up to 3rd in the dry and 5th in the wet. You just can't get the torque down.

If you're planning multiple track days go further.

Badger bill's Ibiza runs 360bh with a 1.8t talk to him if you want raw power. The torque from going too far in the diesel is just too much IMHO. :)

Don't go for the 150 turbo. No real benefit for the cost / work. Speak to Garrat or Allard. Garrat prices are very good for hybrid work.

Was just thinking that - turbo-wise - the 150 turbo will just add loads of lag and won't boost a lot more anyway. Hybrid would work better for the Furby.

@blackmagic - you must have spent a few quid then ;)

I'm thinking FMIC, Milltek this year, assuming GBs come along. Then on insurance renewal, get 312mm brakes, remap and perhaps suspension if I am able to get that past SWMBO ;) by that time we'll probably need to move house though as family expansion/start may be on the cards by then

But a 150PD only maps out at 190ish anyway - theres no way you will see 225-235bhp from a 150PD turbo and intercooler. You would be looking at a hybrid turbo at least to hit those figures. I think the injectors will be OK but will be on their limit.

Allard do an upgrade along these lines hitting that power with a hybrid turbo.

Where did you get your car tested to post those figures? They seem quite high from a PD130, also im assuming your torque is a big spike?

Can you upload your plot?

I love diesel torque also the petrol consumption just isnt for me. Ive done over 10,000 miles and only had the car three months so I like to get 400 miles to tank when Im not booting it!

Also for resale a 1.8T in a fabia would be zer tricky!

Yep you seem to have done your homework, eibachs on the car as walkie said do make a big difference, Ive got the standard dampers and its pretty good it reduces the engine lift uder acceleration/hard braking also. Next step is uprated anti roll bars and that will do it - at present I dont think anyone offers any but when they do its front and rear - yes please!

Dampers arent worth the money in my opinion only though

Thanks for the advice, I am looking at fitting uprated front discs and calipers either Octavia or other VW group (bigger the better).

What is the spec on your own car sounds like there must be a bit of power there?

The tuners have told me to go for a hybrid and say that it should pull the figures of 230bh do you think this is lightly?

IIRC Allard do a 250 BHP conversion for the PD130 which costs XXXX?

That may include new injectors which cost an absolute fortune IIRC.

Sorry I meant to say a hybrid turbo, they take mine and exchange it or something Ill have to ask the tuners more on this.

Jabba did the remap and the figures are straight off the graph, the torque is the best bit, I would upload the graph but I dont have a scanner and Im crap at anything IT, sorry
