53 Plate L & K Estate 117 K Engine bay is getting Noisier & Noisier

Featured Replies

Had this car since winter 2010 at 97K  dealer said cam belt had been done Only done regular filters and Oil at early intervals

Power steering is going gradually

ASZ engine code (130 BHP)

All I would like to know is :-

1 ) Engine mounts will they all need replacing or could I skimp

2 ) Cam belt is it a mileage or time thing which ever comes sooner I mean

3 ) Obviously Power steering pump

4 ) What else

Thanks in Advance

Have you changed the power steering fluid?

Cambelt, tensioner & water pump every 60k or 5 years, which ever comes quickest. Skoda actually recommend every 40k or 4 yrs, but the rest of the VAG group don't seem to agree with that on the same engines!!

In my experience skimping on repairs, & servicing doesn't usually work out long term.

Power steering fluid was changed for a green fully synthetic febi bilstein 06161 this has made it worse

I know that on my old audi 100 you had to buy the pas fluid from the dealer. Other stuff was not good for seals etc

VAG fluid only.

You must use the correct PAS fluid, failure to do so will lead to failure of the pump and its internal seals.

I think the advice is use the correct vag stuff else you have probably shagged your pump and possibly rack.

Thanks guys

Use the correct power steering pump fluid but also I have known 6 vag cars of that age and all of the alternators failed at about 120k. They sometimes get noisy then go.
