Spare bulb set for VRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just got myself a 6 month old Octavia estate VRS mk3 in candy white. Always drive abroad a few times a year and just wondered if anyone knows the best place to get a spare bulb kit to meet EU regulations? It does have the Bi-xenon headlights so not sure what difference this makes to getting bulbs.

First skoda and I've got to say I'm absolutely loving the VRS and this website too. I'm sat in my house thinking about reasons to go for a drive although as it's wet out there I don't want to get the car dirty after washing it!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

JT.

In my experience, carrying a spare xenon bulb is not an option. They don't come as part of a kit, they are pretty expensive and need to be dealer fitted. I also drive abroad a couple of times a year and advice I have previously read from motoring organisations is not to bother attempting to carry a spare xenon, despite it being a legal requirement in some countries. If you are unlucky enough to have a xenon fail and are stopped by the local law enforcers, apologise profusely and explain that you are just on your way to the nearest dealer to get it fixed.

Even the front indicators on the O3 are dealer fit only.....

Check this AA list on their website.  Less required by law than you'd think.

According to Green Flag, spare bulbs are compulsory in Spain. Most motoring sites (and manfacturers of bulb kits) point out that it is illegal to continue driving with a blown external bulb, even in the UK, so it is recommended that a spare bulb kit is carried at all times, minus the xenon, if you have them.

Thanks for the advice, I guess I'll just buy a spare bulb kit without the xenon then. Best place to buy spare bulb kit?? Has anyone actually bought one yet for the new VRS? Seem to be able to find kits for old model online but not the new model. Cheers again for any advice given. jT.

You don't need a spare HID bulb

A Halfords H7 bulb kit will see you right

I bought this kit for my Continental Trip last year....I have HID bulbs too
