EGR valve ground fault?

It started with error code 17848 (P1440 EGR Valve Power Stage Open).

I have loosend the EGR valve to clean it. Cleaned it, felt that it could

move up and down inside. When I put it back, I got new trouble code 17809

(P1401, EGR Valve Circ Short to Ground).

Could it be that the system is zeroed load command after it has been removed as

well as the battery has been disconnected?

According to VAG when I phoned them, they must program it if I change it to a new.

At the same time, I have red that the EGR valve does not have a"own brain"

then there should not be any problems?

Is there someone who is knowledgeable in this area?

By the way, we have measured the resistance of the plug to the EGR valve, with

these values:

Ohm measurement EGR valve connector

No 1 and 5: 8.3 Ohm

No 2 and 4: 2.85 kOhm

No 2 and 6: 3.10 kOhm

No 4 and 6: 1.29 kOhm

What is the engine code of your car?

What is the part number on the EGR valve?

It isn't the EGR valve that gets programmed, it's the ECU that gets adapted to the EGR valve. As I understand it, during adaptation it moves the valve around and reads the position feedback, 'self-calibrating'.  If you have re-fitted the same valve, it shouldn't need re-adapting unless you turned on the ignition while the valve was unplugged, which might have confused the ECU.

The resistance values look reasonable, as if it isn't electrically completely dead. From the age of your car, I don't think it will be the same valve as on ours, so I can't be sure about the exact numbers. How does the wiring look near to it?

Edit: A quick look at some wiring diagrams that I have suggests that on some cars at least, Fuse 7 is associated with the EGR as well as the Power Steering.  I think these two problems you are having are related.  Quite possibly a wiring loom problem that is causing a short circuit (maybe via moisture) to ground/0V.  The wires to both power steering connector and EGR are black/yellow and referred to as 'D52 - Positive connection (15a), in engine compartment wiring harness' in the diagrams. Edit: the EGR power wire seems to change to black/red at a connection T10d "10-pin connector, in left of engine compartment  (connection of engine assembly wiring loom/engine compartment wiring loom)"

Thanks a lot for you very fast answer!

Engine code: AUB

EGR Part Number: 036131503M

Chassi Number: TMBHD26Y113174286

The wiring looks fine, the colors are:
Purple/white
Brown/blue
Black/red
Red/Green
White/green

I didnt turn the ignition on when  EGR was loose and cleaned.
When we tried to stop the running 7A we didn’t loosen EGR contact to risk loose ECU data.

I bought an Clamp-on Ampere Meter today and will put it around EGR wiring to see what Ampere is floating

when going with a stronger fuse for some seconds.

It’s very interesting to hear that you think that EGR valve also is running on fuse 7.
That make me think I’ve already zeroed the ECU while I started the car without fuse?
But it doesn’t explain the strong amp...
If you have wiring diagram for my car I am very happy to know if anything more is involved in fuse 7.

I will try to find this cables you mentions...
