Airbag + MDI

Featured Replies

I assume the front passenger airbag can be deactivated, where is this done.

Where is the MDI output socket situated.

Will I have Bluetooth with the Bolero ss.

I have Elegance on order if this makes any difference.

1/ Key operated switch in the glove locker.

2/ In the central cubby box.

3/ Don't think so

1/ - as above - key in glovebox.

2/ - at the base of the centre console.

3/ - I believe you should get basic Bluetooth as standard on elegance spec.

I have the Elegance, and you do get Bluetooth as standard.

You DO NOT get an MDI output on the Yeti, you have an SD card slot with the Bolero, or a 3.5mm jack socket for an MP3.

I had an MDI in my Fabia VRS, and it was great to run my Hard Drive off of. I was really disappointed that the Yeti did not have the MDI, but the SD card solution works just as well, and you can scroll through tracks on the Bolero screen.

The MDI can be retro fitted, at a cost of £250 upwards depending where you go, but a hole will need cutting in your dash somewhere ( usually in the top dash cubby) for the MDI connection to sit. It is easily wired from there to the rear of the radio.

I'm assuming the OP ticked the MDI option when ordering? In which case the socket will be installed in the cubby at the base of the centre console.

Wonder what ? because I asked. The catalogue is very vague on any radio and its capability. Also the Bolaro manual says nothing about it.....so better to ask those that might know.

I'm trying not to be patronising, but they are the sort of things you check out before you order one i would have thought?

Did you spec the MDI option by the way?

The FL now comes with BT on all, the option to upgrade the BT will give you the option to have texts read out to you, the basic BT works well and has voice control.

One can change anything up to a certain time which is now what I am doing i.e. checking on the smaller things. Reading other posts some think it is not available and some think it is. I had read the manual and it made no mention of Bluetooth so I asked.

I was considering the MDI but it is not a priority item now that I read your #4 post. thanks

Just be careful about changing options as you go, you will find your build week could move drastically with adding the simplest option.

I gave up after 6 months with my VRS and had one that was already built, as the build weeks were hopping about all over the place.

I spec'd MDI on ours. I would not personally be without it. It works exceptionally well with the 3 iPhones in our family.

Same here. Fantastic option. Works a treat with music collection and podcasts.

My FL SE 140DSG 4X4 came with Bluetooth whereas my previous SE did not and I certainly didn't notice it in the brochure and the dealer didn't mention it. The only way I found out was that Wakev mentioned it as being fitted to his FL SE.

Yes, the catalogue can be vague or lacking as with the Tow Bar topic. The radio info is very short on information. Forums are the place to find out these small things.

Also the current catalogues show all Left hand drive cars...I made sure I ordered a right hand drive.

Which just reinforces my point. I find it hard to believe when people spend £22 k on a car, that they dont pore over the brochure and press every button. I want to know exactly what my money is being spent on!

Also some of the answers to the original question were incorrect, so it's always best to have a long list of questions ready for your dealer, and any dealer worth their salt should be able to explain everything to you - even to questions you have not asked!

Whilst I follow your logic I don't see how poring over the brochure and asking questions could have told me that Bluetooth had been added to the spec since my previous car. As it wasn't listed and I wasn't specifically expecting or asking for it I had a pleasant surprise when I discovered it.

Fred

I know the brochure info isn't always to be trusted, but in all revisions of the FL brochure I've seen, Bluetooth has been mentioned as standard equipment?

'GSM II telephone preparation with Bluetooth' - mentioned on P24 of the brochure, under Standard Equipment for 'The ŠKODA Yeti S Outdoor'.

To read ALL the bumph and variations and get it right is impossible.

Take for example the Acoustic front and rear parking sensors, £310. The Jan catalogue states this as an option on the SE & Elegance. Yet reading deep, the SE and Elegance have the rears anyway as above the S (pages 19 and 25). So you are only buying the front at the same price. Now going for Park Assist, that includes the front and rear parking sensors...are you still with me....so here again you are only getting the front sensors added. If you do not use the web configurator, which probably throws a wobbly when you try to add all these thing, then it is not straight forward.

See there's more to it than meets the eye.

Hey mine is now ordered with, Front & Rear Mud Flaps, Textile Floor mats, Double Sided Boot Floor, Park Assist inc acoustic front & rear parking sensors,

Heated front windscreen, Rear Side Protection Airbags, Space Saver Spare wheel (Dealer fitted), Heated Windscreen Washer Nozzles, Panoramic Sunroof, Driver fatigue sensor, Tyre pressure monitor, Isofix on front passenger seat, KESSY entry and start, Electrically adjustable drivers seat, Multi Device Interface.

I can see your point, things do change. Wouldn't say it was impossible though. That's why I was saying that in all the brochure variations I've seen for the FL, Bluetooth has always been listed as standard.

And if someone wasn't sure, a competent dealer would be able to confirm. Like Preston Motors did with my order, over the differences between GSM II and GSM III, if you want to get a bit more technical....

Thats exactly what the brochure would have told you. It is clearly stated in the general pages, and then listed as standard on the 'S' spec model.

You are meant to read the base spec then read the additions that the SE and Elegance have over and above the S spec.

Other things may well have been missed that you were much more bothered about, just as well that was not the case.

Well thanks for that!

You may not be aware that there was a period when the FL brochure was not available and SUK were sending out the original one.  Then there was a period when there was an on line FL brochure that varied almost on a daily basis!

I eventually received the correct brochure AFTER I had ordered my car so much of my choice was mired in mystery and so I was pleasantly surprised to get Bluetooth.

Although thinking about it and considering that I rarely use my mobile I suppose it's a redundant facility and not worth raising my blood pressure about. :giggle:

I'm not having a go.

I am one of life's button pressers, who asks what everything does if i don't know.

There have been many cases of buyers not getting what they think they have paid for, so i make sure.

I can honestly say that i have found nothing on my Elegance that i was unaware of before purchase.

It worked out for you with your Bluetooth, as you did not value this as an option, others may not be so lucky.

Unfortunately manufacturers have the caveat 'brochure subject to change, consult your dealer' to explain away spec changes.

Never happened to me, but 'buyer beware!'
