Meguiars 105 buffing

Featured Replies

Fowling advice received from my previous thread i bought at das6 pro, orange white and black hex logic pads, megs 105 and 205.

After playing with it all today seemed to go well but i struggled buffing off the m105 after working with da, i think it could be me using too much product.

Has anyone else had this problem with 105?

Cheers Eddy

How much did you put on the pad?

was on average a circle or 2 round that pad if that makes sense?

I'm yet to use the 105 and 205 as I'm using the last oft scholl products. Sounds like it could be to much product.

Cool, i try less when i finish car off.

Seemed to work well together, hard to say being only machine products i have used but, after the 205 was left with a good gloss and seems to have removed most of the swirls but I'm going to wait will cars in bright sun to commit to that statement.

I am really happy with it all so far though, must be the good advice from you all

Ideally .......only 3 pea sized blobs of polish is more than sufficient after the pad has been primed

I had seen that in videos, but always seem to just add more to make it feel like I'm doing more. Three blobs just didn't look like enough.

But this could well be my problem after thinking about it.

Should defiantly followed that advice closer :giggle:

You said it, but don't feel bad, lots of people make the mistake.

Good on you for getting stuck in with the polisher and finding out for yourself.

Results will just get better and better as you practice.

Were you priming the pad and keeping an eye on the polish, not letting it get two dry?

Nice to just have a play, convenient to pop to cyc too while at home.

Yeah i could see that from even today, panels done later on appear to have a better finish!

I was using a little water on the pad just to prevent it from being dry, does that count as priming?

Little worried there maybe holograms on the bonnet but was hard to tell with the lights i was under. Good bit of sun will tell.

As Sparkly said, its good that you have given it a go!

I remember the first time i machine polished my car. Last thing you want to do is mess up. You will learn new things all the time, techniques, polish and pad combos, speed's, passes and prep work. Like you i use a Das 6 pro. After using it a few times im more than confident in doing other peoples vehicles.

I'm just in the process of ordering the Megs 101 and 201 combo and some new Pads. Always used Scholl products but i thought id try something different.

Throw some photos up!

I was gunna get some up but here come the excuses, I was too excited to get started and didn't take any before, then i pulled out of the garage i was using and it started to rain.

Here is my effort at some though.
