Clicky clutch anyone?

Featured Replies

Thought i'd check if anyone else has a problem with a clicky clutch on their manual transmission Octavia?

I drive a manual TSI 140 estate.

The car has been at the dealer beacuse it is hard to put it in reverse gear (sometimes impossible).

The first measure was to replace the clutch. That didn't solve the reverse gear problem. Instead, after two weeks with the new clutch it started making a "clicky" noise when the clutch is released. The clutch also vibrates a bit and feels notchy and rough.

The dealers' mechanics says it's a design flaw, and that they can't do anything, but I'm obviously a bit sceptic about that. I had no problems with my clutch prior to it being replaced.

I've attached a waw-file with a recording from my mobile phone.

Also feel free to chime in if you don't have any problems with your clutch :)

My son complained his mk2 made a clicking noise when pressing down clutch during a gear change. Dealer tried to fob him off saying it was a tiny leak from his exhaust and was not covered under warranty.

Bull****.... I found the problem straightaway, the temperature sensor that clips to the inside of the radiator was hanging loose instead of being in its clip. It swung and banged on the radiator whenever he changed gear because of the acceleration.

In your case it sounds as if the dealer is not competent, the new clutch shouldnt make that noise and it should be smooth etc etc. Escalate the problem to Skoda Uk and demand one of their master techs check it.

Hope it's nothing like the incurable clicky clutches reported on the Citigo...

Glad our Citigo is an ASG and my O3 will be DSG sometimes!

Is it a cable or hydraulic operated clutch on the octy?  Sticky cable? I remember my dad having a clutch cable changed on a new fiesta many years ago as it was gritty feeling at the pedal

Ugh, I checked out the Citigo forums, and my problem sounds eerily similar. Hopefully it's curable.

It's a hydraulic clutch.

The dealer (I live in Sweden by the way) has agreed to take another look at the clutch.

I'll report back when they've taken a look at it.

Cracked pedal box?

Although I've not studied the pedal assembly at all, it sounds almost like a return spring shifting (either the whole spring moving along its mounting, or one of the end stops) at a certain point?
