Superb Wheels

Featured Replies

Following on from my other post WRT buying a Superb. The search function doesn't seem to be working ATM (it wasn't yesterday either)

What wheels can you fit to a Superb?

Can I fit my 18" winter wheels from my Octavia? (5 x 112)

They will fit yes, but the Octavia uses a higher ET so they will sit inside the wheel arches a little further. (About 5mm IIRC)

I do not know about yours but I have 225/40/18's if that helps.

Great News. So they are the same stud pattern just a different offset?

Thanks Gizmo BTW I wish your Superb was a 4x4 ;-)

My winters are 225/40/18's.

Saves me some money on buying a new set of winter wheels/tyres if I change from the Octavia to a Superb.

Whether they fit is not the biggest problem. Since the Superb is much heavier than the Octavia, and Skoda does not supply load ratings for their factory-fit wheels, there is no way to know the Octavia wheels are strong enough for the Superb.

Of coarse this will never be a problem in normal driving situations, but when you have to make an emergency maneuver with a fully loaden car, you might you had opted for strong enough wheels....

Not according to Parkers they are not 1502kg for a Superb Estate Elegance 170 TDi (manual) against 1445kg for a Octavia vRS Estate 170 TDi (manual)

Do you really think any manufacturer are going to work to such close tolerances?

(57kgs = less than 9 stone, so lighter than 99% of adults)

Now if you were going to fit car wheels to a van then I would be 100% with you.

That's a very small difference, but strange data, since in NL the Octavia is 170 kg lighter than the Superb, three times your difference.

They are Audi wheels anyway so that complicates things even more.

However I'm not concerned about weight limits as I don't think it will be an issue. IMO The range of weights the manufacturer has to take into account to fit wheels to a car will mean it wont be a problem under any circumstances.
