Bloody tyre sidewall!

Featured Replies

Great. That's just what you want on your continental sports tyre that's only done a few thousand miles (Thanks Mrs Scottishcammy!)...

Whoops, posted twice, can an admin delete this please?

Thanks.

Ha ha! (rumages in garage bike bits tub....)

Least it missed your Alloy..that would have been a sh1tter. you should be able to lock 1 of your duplicates until a mod can do the deed....

Thanks chap, I'll try that just now  :)

New tyre for me, cords showing

Wouldn't trust that tyre, especially at speed

I value my life

I did less damage to the tyre (just a sliver) but took a whacking great chunk out my alloy.

That was was thanks to an SSE van on the wrong side of a while line.

I think you need to change it as well.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to change it. I've got a wife and 3 kids, don't want anything to happen to them, or some other poor bugger I would end up veering into.

I was going to try a Nokian Zline for my next tyres, but might be trying one of them much sooner than I planned!

Got a quote for VredeStein Ultrac Sessanta, £114 fitted. I've read some good reviews on here for those tyres. How does that sound price wise if anyone has bought them themselves?

Defect that causes failure of the sidewall or results in cords showing = illegal.

Hence the query about the VredeStein!

I have just fitted two Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 to my vrs and they are brilliant in the wet and dry and only cost me £214 at my local tyre fitter.

I've got 2 Vredestein (different size wheels though) and very happy with them.

(My size was only £75 each fitted)

I'm guessing you've got 17's then? If so, where on earth did you get them for that price??

No, it's not a vRS ! Standard 1.8TSi 16" alloys,  Vega I think?

Last two tyres I bought were 'COOPER' which gave a guarantee for failure.

Depending on mileage (clause) pay £15.00 and get a new tyre fitted replacement.

In your case for £15.00 you would have had a new tyre fitted and on your way again.!!

I'm not sure my wife driving it into the driveway edging causing the tear would count as failure on the tyre!

Ask her to pay for the new one (but do it from the inside of a Centurion tank) :whew:
