Good mounting solutions for Ipod classic in Octavia Estate?

Hi, we have a 2011 Octavia Estate - we've recently entered into the land of new technology and have linked up an ipod classic to the SatNav thingy.

 

Current solution is having it lying in the top opening bit on the dashboard.

 

It means its not very handy to hit the pause button etc. since you can't control it from the satnav touch screen and also means that you have to drive about with the lid sitting open because of the wire.

 

Anyone have any recommendations for mounts?  Thought it would probably need to be one that fits in the air vent since the dash doesn't really have any decent flat bits to put anything on.
