Is the service interval on the VRS diesel 10k? Thought I read this somewhere but can't find where now. If it is does anyone know whether it's possible to put it on the log life interval as I do around 25k miles a year so could work out costly.

It is indeed 10,000 miles and yes it should be possible to put it long service interval. However, if you have the 'free' Skoda servicing then it is 10,000 miles only or annually, depending on which comes first.

It isn't 10,000 miles, and never has been, even though my dealer insists on putting 10,000 miles in the service book.

 

It is 15,000km or 9,400 miles. I know, as mine has just had its second service and when I drove away it was on 9.400 to the next service.

 

Or, you can opt for variable servicing which is 2 years, 18,800 miles or whenever the car decides at some point before then.

 

If you intend keeping the car long term go for fixed intervals as components such as turbos will last longer, if you are changing after 3 or 4 years go for variable as the likely problems will be with future owners.

 

I won't run on variable again after my experiences on my MkII and 2 replacement turbo's, 180k miles all done on variable servicing.

Even the paperwork for my 3 free services that came from SUK says it's every 10k miles and that's what I'm sticking too, until I've used them all up and then it's going on variable.

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter, just take it in when it tells you to

Why not run on variable servicing but also change the oil every 10K miles or once a year which ever comes first?

Seeing as the minor service nowadays isn't much more than an oil and filter change anyway you may as well just do the fixed service routine.

Cheers guys. Will only be keeping the car for a max of 4 years due to company policy so will be opting for the variable servicing. Got a while to wait before I can order yet but just weighing up my options!
