Idling to 1100 rpm ?

Featured Replies

Ok folks today after my 20 mile drive home from work (mostly m/way) pulled into my drive and i usually turn off the engine as soon as the car stops and get out but today just as i drove into the drive my fone went so i sat with the engine running and talking for a minute but i noticed the revs sitting at 1100 rpm, only the DRLs were on as was the air blower (No.1 setting) no air con. After a bit i reved the engine a wee bit and this settled down the revs to about 750 rpm.

Is this normal for a car to rev a bit high after a good run or maybe i've just not noticed the revs doing this because i usually switch the engine off immediately.  Btw it's a 2011, 1.2tsi 19000 miles. cheers folks. :notme:

Funny this comes up, my car usually idles at about 800rpm at standstill, and 1000 when cold or moving (to a stop).

Today I noticed it has not been dropping at all. Been staying at 1000 even after a while waiting to pick someone up, both with air con on and off. I'm just leaving it to do its thing lol.

If your TDi idles at 1000rpm when hot it is an indication that the DPF is doing a regeneration.

I was starting to worry about that. Better take it for a blast at the weekend.
