The question was is ate blue fluid and braided hoses a good upgrade as I'm changing pads and discs all round so thought I'd do the lot.

Aslong as its not a high percentage Ether based i think.

Ether will eat all your rubber seals and screw with the ABS

ate blue does rot abs seal in the mk.4 cars

ate gold / ate 200 doesn't

hth

What about ATE super blue dot 4?

I've been recommended that for my mk1 octy after cooking the brakes at Combe!

thats the stuff I'm talking about

ATE website

TYP200 / Super Blue Racing where designed for alternating changes - the only diff being the blue dye - which rots ABS/clutch seals etc

Right so ate blue is out, what about braided hoses anyone upgraded to them? Bosch do a super DOT 5.1 fluid would that be OK ? and how much will be needed to flush the system ?

Braided hoses are a good upgrade, I had them on my previous car and made a very slight difference (not an Octavia).

Dot 5.1 fluid has a higher boiling point than dot 4, here is a link to the Wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOT_5.1

You'd need about a litre to replace your fluid
