Rear wheel bearing

Featured Replies

Are the wheel bearings off eBay any good? they are circa £30 opposed to £40+ on Eurocarparts,GSF etc

TPS want £85 pre vat

Thanks in advance

It depends on the type of bearing and the factory it's made in unfortunately. There will be some decent bearings on ebay and some appalling ones and without buying it's almost impossible to tell the difference. Do you have a part number ? I might be able to make a recommendation.

Hello mate, I went for the one off car parts for less @ £41

Hope it's ok!

Sorry I don't have the part number I'm afraid

Thanks anyways

I'll keep you updated on how it goes guys

Cheers

Cheap wheel bearings are best avoided, that said a lot of different brands roll out of the same factory. I'd normally suggest sticking with FAG, SKF, SNR etc.

In theory, faking a wheel bearing isn't that hard, people in effect buy a box at retail and probably couldn't identify a real item from a fake easily. I used to work with someone who had spent a few years working for a motor factor locally, his former employer had a habit of repackaging generic or minor brand items that weren't easily identified in major brand boxes for over the counter sales.
