FL mk2 Octavia - CR or PD?

Featured Replies

Just looking for confirmation really as I don't know a lot about diesel power

Are all FaceLift mk2 Octavia diesels CR or were some PD's?

How would you tell the difference? I'm assuming general noise and engine style/placement?

I seem to remember the dip stick is in a different place or have it got that mixed up with another model?

Wrong forum, want the Mk2 one really.

Can confirm however that all facelift Mk2 vRS TDi's were 170 CR's not PD.

Most pre-FL's were PD, very late ones and the LE special edition were CR engined.

Personally would avoid any PD engined vRS's as they are renowned for DPF and Injector issues.

CR versions are a lot more refined than the PD's but they definitely lack the low and mid range punch of the PD versions, makes then a bit dull to drive IMO. Problem has been well corrected in the latest gen motors used in the Mk3 though, the 2.0 150 and 184 TDi's are superb.

So looks like I purchased the PD version from those pics. Bought a 2008 170 Octavia vRS and I have to say she is an absolute dream to drive, in first she takes that few seconds to spool before launching and also if cruising in 6th and I need to floor it there would be a little less drama. Have spoken to the lads at emaps in Scotland about a remap, Farakh tells me he has done a few of these and knows what I'm talking about and let's just say the drive will become even livelier in those areas, watch this space 200 bhp and 420 nm of torque should be interesting.693ea79cac455c9525ff1762614a9276.jpg
