vrs service today

Featured Replies

My car is going in for a major service at warrington skoda today. Any recommendations for vagcom settings and xds settings. I can only think of the anti hijack one.

I recommend middle setting for XDS :)

mine is in for its 20k service today :)

One click to unlock all doors is something that I asked for........

But my local dealer wants to charge me 40 pounds for doing it!!!!!!! The story is that I have booked in for 12 month first service and am providing my own oil - the are charging 62 pounds for the service including VAT - I asked them if they could convert my Vrs from variable to fixed servicing as I only do low mileage - they confirmed that they would hook the car up and convert for me for free - I thanked them and asked that as it was going to be hooked up, could they convert to one click unlocking all doors - their reply was that as this was not service related they would have to charge me half an hour labour !!!!!!

So much for customer service!!!!! - I would take it elsewhere but next nearest dealer a bit of a drive.

Don't you think by providing your own oil you may have just ****ed them off a little bit?

Xk140 - I think you may have a point - hadn't thought they would mind that much ....

But still a bit churlish of them

Incidentally - the price of the service with oil was only 20 pounds more - should have asked the what they are now using as a while ago it was 40 pounds more

Anyway -at least this way I know that good quality oil is being used ( Castrol Edge 5 w 30)

I believe they have to put the castrol edge in themselves. Or the commercial version(cant remember the name but thats what I got when I bought it from them.) Although they dont put super unleaded in like they are supposed to....

I had the lock settings changed so all doors and the boot unlock with one press and also hijack locking enables at 10mph or whatever speed it is. NO CHARGE and was told it is a very common request.

I didnt pay for anything either. Got a few bits done. Although they refused to set the country code to Australia.

Skoda recommend Castrol  & Dealerships may put in Quantum,  same difference.

3.6 litres of 5w 30, VW 502 00 might be £25 ish on an invoice,

Charging £7.20 a litre.

3.6 litres of  5w 30, VW 504 00 Long Life III £47

Charging £13 ish a litre.

Well ive had the anti hijack done and had the brake fluid done instead of plugs a filter as these where done 5k ago. When is the fuel filter done these. Its done 35k and i thought it would be done.

Not sure on that. Mines in for its 40k next week and was wondering what would be done myself. Weird one being that last service was at 36k and had all the 40k stuff done so not sure if im getting the same again or another minor. (Just had new engine and skoda are paying so price isnt relevant)

had my 20k service today, was painless, and a reasonable £149. all good. all green on the checksheet :)

Well mine was 210 should have been 248 but i asked for brake fluid change instead of plugs and filter as these were done recently. Once again a top job at the dearler ship but was a littke disappointed in the normal unleaded 1 in 4 tank full recommendation for my occasional lumpy idle issue. I have another thread on this one.

The Spark Plugs do not get change on a Major Service for £249.   (Some quote £299 with Spark Plugs changed)

& if they did get the service with New Plugs for £249 you would be very Lucky.

What Filter do you mean already changed,

the Air Filter that you had done at the time of the Plugs?

Have you had the Pollen Filter replaced for the £210,

and the Brake Fluid Changed.

Was this a 3 year/30,000 Minor Service or a 40,000 mile Major/Inspection Service?

George does all the stuff on the minor service get done at the major one?

The Minor Service at each 9,400 Miles (10,000) or 1 year  Is Oil/Filter and Fluid checks and the usual visuals.

The Major/Inspection is just more of the Same.

& Pollen Filter Changed.

(& at 40,000 you are supposed to pay more if you want Spark Plugs Changed.)

30,000 Mile/3 Year might be a Minor Service & Brake Fluid Change.

Its all getting to be a bit mixed up as people are not going just by the Schedules, or are doing more than 10,000 a year,

Minor,

Major, Pollen Filter

Minor,

Major.  Pollen Filter,

You need to check just what they are doing and how much they want to charge.

If on an Original Air Filter i would get that replaced at 40,000 at the latest.

george

Yeah its all being paid for by skoda. Im going to make sure they do a major just for my peace of mind. Wont need plugs as they are only 2000miles old. Going to make sure the pollen and air filter is changed. And I have told them to go over it with a fine toothed comb. Skoda have reiterated that instruction aswell. I am going to be getting all relevant paperwork plus a file note from the master tech who has been told to do my service on everything that has been checked and anything he noticed. Even if its ok for now. Skoda are trying to pull the wool over my eyes and it aint happening.

So Air, Pollen Filter, & Brake Fluid if it was not done already.

That should be it with New Anti Freeze in with the Engine Change,

and as you say, new plugs are in already.

Cheers George. Had my brake fluid done a few months ago although should have bought some better stuff. But yeah ill let the forum know how it goes next week.

Yeah plugs and airfilter done at 29k at my request. For the 210 they did pollenfilter it was 40k major at 35k. But without the plugs and airfilter as done prev plus brake fluid. When does fuel get done though

It doesn't.

What not at all. They last the length of the car?

  • Author

Well at least they are not too expensive
