Recommend a garage to carry out service/maintenance

Featured Replies

I have searched and cannot find much information on what garages or mechanics people use.

So thought I'd try and get a guide of trusted and well informed garages or mechanics that Fabia owners use!

So please recommend and provide a location for the people who carry out the work on your cars.

Where you from bud ? I'm lucky enough to live close to Ross (techie on here) so he does most of the work on my car. Small services and small jobs I do by myself but if you are local to hereford/worcester then I highly recommended him

As above post a location. I know a good VW independant in Leeds.

Otherwise google "good garage scheme" for ratings on independants.

I'm Northamptonshire based and use Unit 18 for all the work / modifications to the car! :)

Hi Keith

They're based in Wolverton just on the outskirts of MK, directly alongside the Grand Union Canal.

Their postcode is MK12 5NL, so I'm sure if you pop that into Google it'll give you an idea of how long it'll take you to get there :)

The OP lives in Faversham, Kent.

It's OLD Wolverton . I'd suggest A43 to A5 ,then look for signs. My old Autoroute suggests A43 /A508, taking the third exit on thew A5 /508 island . 37 mILES and approx 30 mins. IF you get near Roade, there used to be some sneakly placed cameras in the 30 limit in and out. AND on the 43, (DC),on the way there - slow down at the first speed camera sign ,though being Northants, they'll have put some up .

My bad! Guess I was only half a mile or so off haha!

Not too bad, but as I onlyworked round this area at night., Im a stranger round there too in daylight.

Can I "bad" the idea of good garage scheme !

Like all things its just a "scheme". A way for garages to look good by buying into a "scheme" that the garage may or may not be able to afford !

Well I wasted £50 at a local one, they couldn't be less helpful looking into my suspension problems, despite me practically explaining the problem and solution in front of them, it was on deaf ears !

If I could have argued to have got the £50 back I would, it was the principal that made me mad, the idea was to save me getting my own hands dirty. Well I did in the end and solved my own problem !

They didn't fit the suspension, fair enough but listening to the instructions / problem of the customer, shouldn't a good garage be capable of doing this ? Don't bother with "good garages" for anything other than standard stuff like swapping disks etc, its too much for their tiny minds !

I'd vote a good independent by word of mouth - Unit 18 as the local example above to me - to be fair I haven't used them for tons of work but they do seem to be good.
