running in done

Featured Replies

Just got back from first longish trip during which we passed the running-in mileage [2.0fsi hatch]. Verrry impressed! Though not the "kick-in-the-back" of the old vRS, it certainly moves, and is much more refined - smoother, run-on-rails feeling, very comfortable [played around with the seat height first, then adjusted the steering wheel to suit.]

Using more revs, it really comes into its own - think I'm going to like it!

On another point, reading other threads, do you think the electronics side is getting out of hand? You have to pass A level in manual reading before you know what's going on these days. Wondered why my rear view mirror looked too dark, then found the sensor was on!

Got a kick in the back today, well 2 actually. One when I took off and another when I went into 2nd gear. Bit of a shock as up to now the effect has been somewhat tamed by ESP as the roads have been wet. The effects of minor whiplash are starting to wear off now. Better watch it though, the car doesn't stop with such a kick unfortunately although the brakes are improving as they bed in. Up to 400 miles now and still generally keeping it below 2500 rpm to help with the running in.

What car are you refering to ?

Guess, it's not a 2.0 fsi

Yup!. My boss reckons the kick off second gear was pretty close to that of his old 2.8 Audi Quattro. I was surprised to hear that but he's the expert (as long as he keeps paying me anyway).
