vaccum loss

Featured Replies

Try again in here, right vrs mk1 when I've been driving a while the turbo stops working the car runs fine but it doesn't spool up, when I stop and leave it a while turned off it works again its strange, on a diagnostic it was saying loss of vacuum between the turbo and 're circ valve, so they put me a new vacuum valve and a week later its doing it again, any ideas would be fantastic!!!

I had a similar problem and it wasnt boosting from 3000rpm. Turned out to be a MAP sensor.

What was the code? Sounds like you may have 17705 code, pressure drop between turbo & throttle  (check DV). Have a listen around the engine bay for hissing when at idle. There are a bunch boost/vaccum pipes around & under the inlet manifold that are prone to splitting, which cause 17705.

BTW. The ECU is going into limp mode, which you should be able to pull it of by turning the ignition off & back on again.

No it doesn't go into limp mode but that's the code yea 17705, just as an experiment I put my standard valve back on and the turbo started working again! Tick over smooth and car responsive, I've a brand new forge 008 on with the yellow spring in, I have been told that it may be too hard for the car so possibly worth putting in the green spring with shims

It is going to limp mode, thats why you lose the turbo. If you are running the standard map the yellow spring is too stiff. Even on a stage 1 map I would still use the green spring & possibly a shim or 2. The standard OEM DV is fine up to stage 2 at least. Aftermarket DV's only offer reliability, & no performance gains at all.

It is remapped running 210bhp with 364fpt on the dyno. I see what your saying with the valve and it does make sense, forge advised me to use the yellow spring in it but its very stiff and always questioned it. The turbo worked straight away when I put the original one back on.

Ok so I put the green spring in my 008 it's been running great but today it happened again! Very strange it seems to be when it gets hot, 8 miles to my friends house perfect, then stayed for 4hrs drove back and it stoped again! Argh it's driving me insane!
