Water circulation Problems

Featured Replies

Help! I have a Skoda Fabia vrs 55 reg and have been having problems with getting the coulant to circulate though the radiator. We have changed the thermostate 3 times we have changed the water pump twice and the radiator and water filler bottle both once.

The problem is you can run the car for a day or so then the thermostate red light comes on as it looses water and you have to top it up. The temperature gauge gets to normal but have to say I do not taken the car on a long journey because of this problem.

The one thing that is constant is that the car does not have any loss of power it is always the same nippy little thing that it's always been.

We have tried everything that we can, my son has a garage and we have run out of ideas.

Please if anyone on this sight has had similar issues please help as I love my little car but am affraid to go on any long journeys and do not want to change it.

Here'shoping that some out there can help.

Welcome to the forum.

Loosing Coolant is your problem,  not having a sealed system with Anti Freeze/Summer Coolant/ Rust inhibitor in.

Find the source of the loss of coolant.

Fill the system with the correct ratio of Coolant (not water) to have the vehicle get up to temperature,

then when the Coolant has the thermostat open, bleed the system, or if self bleed, be sure it is bleed.

(get the steam out the system when it is steam)

Leave the pressurised system to cool and see where the level is.

If you lose coolant, then get the system pressure tested and see where the coolant loss is.

?

Have you tested the thermostats you are fitting out of the car to see that they are opening fully when up to temperature?

Has it had a new radiator cap fitted, are you sure the cap is of the right pressure for the car?

Will try changing the bottle cap as thats the only thing we haven't changed.

One more thing even if I leave topping up the system till the next day there is still pressure when I remove the cap from the bottle.
