Towing mpg with the Yeti

Featured Replies

Yeti Elegance, 2WD, 2.0

First long trip with the Yeti and Orion 400/2 Keynsham to Slapton Ley (Devon)

Worked out on the full tank, and displayed pump litres, it seems to be 40mpg!

It says that caravan has a MiRO of 959kg and a MTPLM of 1,076kg...  so about the same as mine. I only get 32mpg towing mine (which is about 10 mpg less than if I don't tow it and do similar motorway driving). But then I have a 4x4 DSG and a heavy right foot (even with the caravan I love to be amazed by the Yeti's acceleration as if there is no caravan behind me :giggle:  )...  I'd love 40mpg when towing!

I'm about the same as Johann, although when we came back from Cornwall last month it dropped a lot as we were battling a head wind all the way to Bristol!

About the same as them  ^^ .

27/28 from my now departed 170 towing 1400Kg .... sadly my new Tiguan is down to 23 .... 19 coming back from our Easter break into a headwind.  NOT impressed!

I have the same car as gumdrop. It is only 2 months old and I have towed 210 miles with it so far and consumption is 32.5 mpg when towing 1250 kg. Okay, so the Orion is a bit lighter than my van but 40 mpg seems a bit high to me!

Perhaps gumdrop could post again after his next trip to see if this great figure is repeated?

It does depend a lot on Hills and Headwinds, I had

a good run down and back with moderate traffic.

The Focus 1.8 TDCi did between 35 and 38mpg.

I like to cruise at 60mph

I will post after my next trip which is to Roseland Cornwall

The trip we did the other week, down to St Ives, I got 36 on the way down but only 28 on the way back. As said we battled a headwind all the way to Bristol.

Swift challenger sport 584 with max weight of just under 1500kg behind Yeti 2.0 140 bhp 4x4, averaging 30mpg.

When I was towing with the Octi I found the mpg actually improved over time, but took nearly 30k miles to achieve this

Found the trip screen, it shows 38mpg for the round trip

That's what I'd expect.
