Galaxy Tab 3 8.0" Tab users.....

Featured Replies

SWMBO has collared me after seeing the above device for under £140.

Now, as I initially steered her in the direction of the now-returned Kindle HDX (which despite the defects, I maintain is  superior device), she' not keen to have another crack at it, and the iPad is a touch out of our price range. she's being swayed by much cheapness...though she won't entertain one of the plethora of cheaper devices.....because they're too cheap.....

Anyone used one? Easy to update to Kitkat?

Personally, I'd rather not as the specs seem a little old/underwhelmining, but paper specs don't tell the whole tale....

Many, many deals have appeared on tablets in the past few weeks.

Personally, £140 for that spec on an 8" tab is so very 12-18 months old. And the reviews make mention...

IMO you're paying for the name and currency of support of android.

Just read on a tech forum that Samsung have clogged up the supply channels with over 300,000 unsold Galaxy tablets of various types, so try shopping around (and haggling).

I am fairly certain I saw somewhere selling the Tab3 for £99 a few weeks ago in Worcester.

we read the same trade rag, GG..... :giggle: .

I'm going to dissuade her as long as possible.  A 'fruity' fondleslab come anniversary will go down rather well, I suspect......

Being firmly rooted in the android corner when it comes to phones I looked around the larger versions of the galaxy tab before eventually settling for an ipad.

Although far more money, after using various devices, it was some way ahead of everything else IMO. I firmly believe that you pay for what you get.

Avoid the fruit unless you're going to go the whole hog with phones and PCs. If you've everything Apple it works well but not so much in bits and pieces.

I know a lot of people rate the Samsung stuff and if it's cheap then it might be worth it.

I'd probably suggest seeking out a Nexus 7 deal at that price point. If she wants a bigger tab then don't bother with an 8" look for a 10".

I would recommend the nexus 7. Love mine after coming from an ipad.

Picked up Google Nexus 7 for my boys, ok it was 2012 model but @ £119 the price point is right for what they it for.

For browsing the net, games, Face Ache etc it does the job.

Ooo... Very tempted by the 7" slate.... Now to justify to wife...

Someone posted a 2013 32gb nexus 7 for £140 recently on hotukdeals.

Yes, but if I put that, the non-techies wouldnt be able to find the website, and accuse me of lying.

But then I am weird, I have the new AmigaOS website listed under "Fun" in my bookmarks.
