DPF or CAT?

Featured Replies

Weather it's a diesel or petrol. Do any insurances cover for having a dpf delete/de-cat.

Yes they are a MOT failure but surely it's possible to be insured for it and have it declared.

Any replies would be great :)

Mine didn't have a DPF as standard, thankfully!

But my de-cat is covered under my policy with Chris Knott. No issues, no questions. De-cat isn't an MoT failure, on a diesel.

Okay thanks for that. But the reason you may have been covered is because like you said cats on diesel don't matter - I'm just curious to find out if this would be a complete different kettle of fish if you were to try the same on a petrol.

Perhaps - never really thought about petrols and de-cats, and that insurance question. Mainly because I wouldn't bother if I had one, because of the MoT angle.

I'd go upto a sports cat, and leave it at that I think.
