DMF and clutch

Featured Replies

How can you tell if your DMF or clutch is on its way out? Car is a VRS 5 speed manual

Vibrations, car sounds like a bag of nails whilst idling and it used to grind a bit when starting up is what I had when my DMF went as for clutch I'd just look for slipping / high pedal

Any significant changes in noise through out the depression of the clutch like knocking or whirring

Nope nothing. Just a vibration feel. Similar to a miss fire

Doesn't sound like a clutch or dmf to me! The vibration, is it when cooling fans kick in?

I thought that. But did it today when cold

I've suspected DMF failure on my Octavia (PD 2007) and now believe it to be misfire noises (or both) but I get no/little changes when the clutch is pressed.

I don't get no noises trust me I've had my fair share of misfires. Just feels like the same vibration

DMF's can do that but they normally chatter when worn, and vibrate when accelerating hard. Could also be an engine mount that's a bit worn.

I just had similar vibrations on my 1.9 tdi pd 05, turned out to be a loose exhaust heat shield.

Its an engine vibration I feel

Just had my cluch and dmf replaced, mine judderd when pulling away and when the drive was took up it came with a jolt all so if reved at idle it felt like the engine was very lumpy and in balanced.
