dodgey revs

Featured Replies

hi all mk 1 vrs while it idles the revs goto about 1000 then drop then go back to 1000 like a yoyo  then when driving along i take foot off the accelrator the revs dont drop as quick as thet are supposed to  its just had silicone breathers im guessing theres air getting in somewhere maybe new air mass

Different car I know but my dad's 95 aero did this and it was a vaccum leak. Found a split pipe in the works.

Have you cleaned the throttle body? this can cause erratic idle and made mine feel like it was at stalling point at times... If you have an air leak you would notice being down on power.

If it's the MAF then unplug and see if your car runs better... if it does then it might be that

ran car with maf unplugged feels better so im guessing its maf lol

check all the breathers follow it from the y pipe from the intake down to the crank case then from there down to under the inlet mani also theres a small vac hose that goes directly onto the inlet mani just next to where the dipstick tube runs check that to. when I did mine I found that mine had a bodged hose under the inlet and it was still perished so replaced it with the new one I had been ok since. think the throttle body could still do with a clean as my revs are still abit jumpy

UPDATE put new air mass on still did it but my mate heard a hissing noise coming from under the brake servo hose and we found a split hose all fixed for now car seems happier now lol

and presumably slightly better brake response?
