Restricted mileage/useage insurance for Fabia vRS?

Featured Replies

I've very unexpectedly got my vRS back after being sold privately just last Sunday...don't ask or I'll start ranting about the trauma and drama..... but am actually quite happy and content now tbh, as I was particularly fond of my little terrier anyway after 7 virtually trouble free years.

Sitting back here on the path gleaming and looking 'at home' again.

The point is that it's a bit surplus to requirements now, as I've just bought a new Superb to replace it, BUT I would like to still use it occasionally as a weekend 'toy'. (road use not track)

Totally bog standard and staying that way, as I intend keeping this very long term now. Future classic in the making I reckon.

I checked for the possibilty of classic insurance, but it seems generally speaking that it has to be at least 15 years old.

It's currently 9 and 2 months, so 5+ to go it seems.

Mileage will be restricted to less than 4000 pa, so what alternatives are there out there...IF any that is?

Speak to your current insurers, they may well take it on cheaply as they know you.

Yup, I will.

Just wondered if there may possibly  be an avenue I didn't know about,  looked down or considered?

if you are insured through Admiral you could always change to multicar.

If your existing cover is restricted to you as the only driver many insurers will add a second car at competitive terms (although usually without any NCD or possibly only 1 years introductory) as clearly you can only use 1 car at a time.

However if you have Any Driver, or Named Drivers cover they will almost certainly treat it as if you were attempting to front up, for example, Miss Ree and probably take a dim and expensive view.

And........... go!  :hi:

No, I mustn't

The steam has gone out of my initial fury now anyway.

I felt ill with anger on Wednesday though because what was being inferred by the purchaser, i mean, I thought my face was actually going to burst into flames I was that agitated with disbelief and anger.

My blood pressure must have been off the scale. :@

A very black day for my health i feel, but much much better now.

I took the car back and refunded all the money which legally I didn't have to do, but as i know there is nothing radically wrong with the car, I took it back.

Couldn't be arsed with all the possible ongoing ear ache anyway.

Never really wanted to part with it in the first place tbh, so p'raps a blessing in disguise.

Selling my Fiesta now instead sadly, but can't keep all these cars....no bloody room left!"! :D

Just going to ring Admiral anyway.

Just rang Admiral.

Obviously India, and judging by the crappy International line, they must be having a severe hail storm WITHIN the call center.

Gave all my details, and then....got cut off!!  :wall:

Monday morning beckons.

You lot will not believe just how chuffed I am when I see it back where it belongs on the path again, absolutely pristine!  :sun:

Thanks for the calls today.

I've now put the vRS BACK onto the Admiral multi car policy for now, which runs out on the 6th July, as it keeps everything and all cars in the household 'in synch' with each other too.

Only for a couple of months, so the premium was only £48.

Been quite impressed with your service, and far better than dealing directly with an actual insurance company, so you'll be getting a call from me early July to see if you can beat the renewal quote from Admiral for the fleet we have here.

Just as a matter of interest, would you or can you provide temp cover for my 21 year old son in June for the Le Mans trip he's doing with me?

Admiral want about £30 for a weeks cover iirc when I asked them a few weeks ago, and today whan I asked, nearly £400 to cover him as a named driver until July!

We don't offer stand-alone temp cover unfortunately but we'd be glad to quote for your family fleet when it comes up in July.
