Dunlop

I'm after quieter tyres as I do a lot of motorway journeys and the roads around Wales arn't the best. Have seen Dunlop Sport Maxx RT 68db. Anyone with experience?

Up until my puncture a few weeks back have been running Sport Maxx on the Superb (fronts) - generally pleased with the performance and noise. Swapped them out for GY Eagle F1 and they are about the same noise wise to be honest.

There are quite a few versions of RTs. I've recently bought a set rated at 67 dB and they are as quiet as they come.

It's the newer version I'm looking at.

All the ratings are also specific to the exact tyre size, but 68 should be pretty good. I know some people running them and they're happy with them.

My tyre size is 225/40/18/92Y

I was referring to my 225/45/17 size so that explains 1 dB difference.

This is what blackcircles recommend.

Take a look at Vredesteins tyres.

at Fabia sizes the Cento's and the Sessanta's both great tyres are rated at 67db I think.

Vredesteins are indeed rated at 67, but their fuel efficiency rating is E and F respectively. They are cheaper than Dunlop though.

Haven't taken them to the limit (grip wise) yet but they are much quieter than the Michelin/Continental combo that was on the car before.

The only 'weakness' of the RT is their thread wear. I don't do that many miles so I paid much more attention to noise and grip.

My car is the same model as yours, just 1 year older.

Thanks Conan. Yer I have seen that people arn't happy with the wear rate. I only do approx 8-9k a year now as petrol is so expensive
