fabia rear brakes

Featured Replies

I have a standard fabia vrs, I have put new wheels on my car and the back disc brakes look to small, is it possible to put bigger discs on the back ?? Thanks grant

Yeah, common upgrade is 256mm vented set up off a Octavia Vrs mk1, you need the discs and matching calipers.

Have you got 312mm front brakes fitted? I personally would not uprate the rears if your still running standard size front ones :)

why not? I've done so and haven't had a single problem with them

Seems a shame and waste of time, effort and money to get bigger brake stuff at the rear.

Only to see them rust away as originals, still, it's down to your choice.. good-luck..

Have to agree most of the braking is with the front brakes and not the rears fronts are the best option for uprating the brakes. .

It really is just to give the car a better look that is it the front and back are both standard but the back looking a bit stupid. i am new to this how can I uploaded a pic to show ?

TBH they don't cost much, and the standards do look really really crap behind 17's :)

Went threw the reasons on your thread.

The size of the brakes when the car was designed were matched front and rear, you don't want the rear to do anymore/be better at braking than when the car was designed.

Not so much about the caliper, more about the rusty discs (unavoidable) and inner wheel arches ??

he is saying the discs look stupid and too small because of bigger wheels that's why he wants new ones, not for performance or anything. If you want 256's on the back go for them, they do look better with bigger wheels as I run 17's with 256's on the back now

Would it be possible to fit disk brakes on MK1 Fabia that has drum brakes?

Yes, it's been done before though in performance terms you'll gain little if anything between a properly adjusted and set up drum vs disc's and pads in a similar condition as the vast majority of the braking force is sent to the front, putting disc's or even larger disc's on the rear from a performance perspective on most Fabia's would be pointless unless you like looking at rusty discs.

You from carlisle!

If so i seen this today!

Needs bigger brakes ;)

Probz just go for the 256's like you say it's just for looks. yes mate I am from carlisle it definitely needs something in my opinion just look way to small haha

I went for my 256 upgrade because I found some on eBay with pads and discs far cheaper than it was going to cost me to get discs and pads for my standard brakes.

Was a bit of a no brainer IMO :)
