Octy 2 vrs tdi 6speed only revs 2500rpm stationary?

Featured Replies

Is this normal?

Car is fine on move.. Don't think ever noticed it before. Was washing car on drive and afterwards gave it a quick rev.. Wanted to hear what sounded like in a laddish way! But it would only rev to 2500rpm. Typically I pannicked and when for a drive.. But all fine, revs happy on the move!

I've read the dsg does this.. Launch control? But mines manual... 2010 cr version.. Have I got the same!

Not that I will use it.. Just never come across this before?

Cheers

Mike

Mine does the same. Must limit to protect itself.

I was messing with a sound racer to get a nice V8 sound while driving!

It needs revving to something like 3/4 of max rpm to calibrate.

In the had to do it while moving with the clutch down.

So all normal for yours I'd say.

It was the same on  my 56 PD TDI VRS Octavia, entirely normal as far as I'm aware although did initially have me worried it was in a limp home mode.

Few! (Wipes brow) thanks for that fellas! Quite like that it does it! Protects engine!

Had Audi A4 that did that but if you pressed traction control switch off you could red line it.

Yes mines the same, but turn the traction control off and it will rev to the red line.

Isn't it to stop MOT testers revving the *******s off it and possibly causing damage when testing the emissions? Or is that an old wives tale

I have wondered whether some MOT testers that know about it actually turn the TC off for the test?

It's a normal feature on most modern diesel lumps, it's not there to stop us mot testers revving the granny out the engine (we have to rev diesel through the full range to make sure the fuel pump governors work properly) it's there because of the CO2 emissions crap.

We also have to check oil level and temperature (not using the temp but oil temperature through the dipstick using a probe.)

The tsi engine has a stationary rev limiter at 4000 revs too.
