Reinstalling Scuttle Panel

Featured Replies

Just had my scuttle panel off as the Autoglass guys broke the clips (not an uncommon occurrence it seems).

I cleaned out the chamber whilst I was at it but I'm trying to re-seat the panel in the groove of the windscreen but it seems to be a long way from the glass when lined up with the plastic clip holes. Should it be sealed in?

After a lot of fiddling you have to make the lip of the scuttle panel clip in fully.

Warning: BE VERY CAREFUL - I've cracked my windscreen

Sounds like a ball ache.

Thanks for the tip, I will be removing mine soon in order to paint it!

Yes I had a look at that but it makes no mention of the difficulty of trying to re-install the scuttle panel in the grooves of the lower windscreen slot!

i didn't find it difficult.  i started one side and just pushed it in with no problems.

Typical eh? Ah well. A lesson learned I guess. Don't be hard handed next to glass

SO, another screen to be fitted if cracked, it won't get any better??

I tried to remove mine for this very purpose as it was pale grey due to UV ray bleaching.

I really didn't like the way it was going, so 25 minutes of cleaning with panel wipe and masking off, and bish bosh, job sorted.

At least the windscreen fella will have to deal with it not me!

Make sure the grove is clean and clear before installing.
