It’s a sad month. After two very happy years together the Fabia VRS and I are about to part company. It was a 2010 car, one of the first registered (June 2010) and has just covered 42,000 miles. I have to say, despite all the negative oil consumption press the car has had, mine was great. I’ve used 4 litres in 20,000 miles. The MINI I had before would have used about the same. No other problems whatsoever. I ran it on super unleaded all the time and enjoyed an overall average of 40mpg and have seen as high as 50mpg on a long run. Apart from servicing its not needed any repairs and has been a joy to drive every day. I love the DSG box and the general performance of the car. The boot is big enough for a weekend away and has easily accommodated a camping trip to the lakes several times.

 

For anyone thinking about one and being put off – don’t be. Test drive it. Rag it. Check the gearbox is fine and then buy it. I bought an independent warranty for peace of mind for £18 a month and that covered the gearbox and anything else worth worrying about. Thankfully I’ve never needed it.

 

It will be a crime if Skoda facelift or change the Fabia and don’t make another VRS. I would suggest they follow the Octavia route and offer a petrol and a diesel option to keep the winging Mk1 pikeys happy (joke ).

Sorry to see you go. I'm still enjoying mine and still haven't decided what will eventually replace my vRS. The cars are great (if slightly let down by the reliability of VW technology), the dealers I have dealt with have been very good but unfortunately Skoda Customer Services have been disappointing. They should take a leaf out my company's book and rename themselves the Customer Satisfaction department. That is all most of us want.

Ive an Octavia VRS on order to replace it so wont be going far. Just sitting and waiting for July Sadly tax rules meant its time for Diesel rather than Petrol as Its a company car. Still, quietly excited

 

Ive a Geniuine Fabia Rubber boot liner if anyone wants it. Free to a good home. Or a bad one. As long as they will collect or cover postage etc. Its big and quite weighty so collection from shropshire preferred

Aww shame Paul. I would have given you some cash for the boot liner. Only bought one last month direct from Skoda!
