Dazzled from behind

Featured Replies

I'm prompted to write this after reading the thread about zenons and SUV's with high-mounted lights.

I am constantly annoyed/dazzled by badly adjusted lights on the car behind, and having to dip the rear-view mirror, and have often thought about fixing a flat mirror in the back windscreen. It would be at the top of the windscreen, facing straight back and exactly vertical so that any headlight beaming into the car would be reflected straight back at the offender.

Has anyone tried this? Would it work? Would it be legal?

Doubt it would be legal but know what you mean....once was so p**sed off with a Golf following me with badly adjusted lights....I adjusted my side mirror...reflected right back at them causing person to turn to side lights...which made me wonder whether they actually knew that they had badly adjusted lights.

Well that was in my "yoof"...just dip the rear view mirror now.

More irritating are those gormless tw@ts who have fogs light on, front or rear, and not realise.

Adjusting your side mirror to dazzle them is funny!

This thread reminds me I need to get round to fitting my auto dipping-mirror.

On a previous car , I had the reversing lights running off a dashmounted switch and could turn on the reversing lights on at will....a quick flick on at speed works wonders for getting rid of the dazzlers/tailgaters of this world...

I have an auto-dipping mirror and it makes a world of difference :D Wish I could do the same with the wing mirrors though - must look into tinting options :D

I knew of someone who side-hooked his brake light wires to a switch on his dashboard, and if peope had a their lights up too high or decided to booty-dance he'd flick 'em on.

Usually if I have something like that happen to me and I end up at a junction I'll get out of the car and walk over behind and tell him his beams are too high and to cut it out. We have enough light in Dubai at night everywhere to drive without headlamps anyway.

My dad got so fed up with someone tailgating he put his brake and rear fogs on at exactly the same moment. The car kept some distance after that.
