Boot will not slam locked - Octavia VRs 2006

Featured Replies

As per header

The auto locking stopped working about 6 months ago , Bit of a pain but the car still opens and closes on key manually so I can put up with it.   at least it did.

Now however when I slam the boot lid the catch will not come across, so effectively the boot lid just rests on the base with only the weight holding it down......which it does until you go over a bump !

It is odd as in the open position if I get a screwdriver and apply pressure the catch will snap across, if I then push it back however and slam the boot it will not snap closed

I have a garage who will do the job but rather than put a new one on or use main dealer parts I want to get one off ebay or source from one of the breaker portals who do recon or used parts.

Basically if possible I want to know EXACTLY what I need to order off the net ?

Is it simply a ........

Skoda Octavia hatchback 2006 boot lock ?

Could it not be that the striker needs adjusting?

I've sorted this by snapping closed the lock on the tailgate with a screwdriver and then unlocking it via the key fob. Then the boot shut and latched fine.

Could it not be that the striker needs adjusting?

Good shout I reckon. Definitely worth a try with no cost involved if you can do it yourself.

Thanks chaps BUT as per 1st line "The auto locking stopped working about 6 months ago", I can only open close doors with the key manually.

I cannot open close using the key fob.

The key fob lights so I assume its internal, BUT a few garages said its a mani dealer problem and local Wirral dealer wanted £80 plus vat.....

In effect I am looking at £100 plus before we even start.......that as they say is another story !

What about adjusting the striker...is that easy ?

Should only be held on with two bolts. More than likely a Torx head but I can't say I've actually noticed, might be a sprung trim in the way which may need removing to access it better. As for the thing itself it should be a case of slackening the bolts off, pulling the striker up and away from the boot (as if to go deeper into the lock when the lid comes down) and tightening the bolts back up.

The other issue with the remote c/l sounds like it could have lost its pairing with the control module in the car. Especially if all the locks and central locking work as they should manually, and the fob still lights up. Have you tried a new fob battery? It might just have enough power to light the LED but not to send a strong enough signal out to the car. Another cheap option to at least try before putting big money into it.
