Hi, it seems that my off side driveshaft is quite sloppy in the hub splines. I can move it slightly, a degree or three, when holding the hub securely. Clunks when I do this, is noticeable when driving! The hub nut is tight! Before I pull it all apart to investigate, are their any obvious or known causes of this? Unmatched driveshaft and hub? Dodgy hub nut? Any advice gratefully received.

Are you turning the outer CV or the driveshaft?

Driveshaft does have movement.

Too much may be a fluffed cv - check against the other side

I'm physically turning the driveshaft but am seeing this movement on the hub nut whilst the hub remains stationary!

give the nut a tweak?

Thanks for the ideas. I assume if the nut does tweak up I should then replace it and torque/angle it up properly?

If the nut was tight, the hub and outer CV couldn't move relative to each other. The nut is loose. You must use a new hub nut (they can't be reused once loose) and you shouldn't drive it until the problem is resolved.
